We were expecting Apple’s first foldable iPhone to arrive this September, but things might have changed. New reports suggest the foldable iPhone release is facing a slight pushback. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared that the shipping date of the foldable Apple iPhone will happen after the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro models.

Apple’s foldable iPhone shipping date pushback
Apple trying its hands on a creaseless foldable isn’t an easy feat, especially since the display technology required for a foldable iPhone is highly complex. Gurman states that due to the tricky manufacturing process, Apple needs more time to get the hardware right before it starts delivering the commercial product to customers. It’s not an unusual plan. Whenever the company introduces a major design change, it tends to release it slightly later than its standard iPhone models for the year.
The iPhone Fold will feature a 7.8-inch internal folding display and a 5.5-inch outer screen. It will be powered by a fast A20 Pro chip. Packing all that into a foldable can prolong the production timeline. The Apple iPhone Fold’s shipping date has been pushed to sometime between October and December this year and not September like we initially thought.
Other features of the iPhone Fold include a Touch ID built into the power key instead of Face ID. The more secure 3D facial recognition sensors will be too thick for the slim design.
As for pricing, Apple may launch the iPhone Fold for around $2,000. This will be the most expensive iPhone the brand has ever sold, which is quite expected. By delaying the launch, Apple will get more time to perfect things and avoid early hardware problems.
