The Android 17 Beta 3 update comes with many improvements including hearing aid enhancements for people. There have always been upgrades to the hearing support for Android, like Google adding fast pair for hearing aids.

Google takes things further with Android 17 Beta 3. The two upgrades revolve around notifications and alerts, particularly notifications for things like incoming messages or emails, or other app notifications, and then ringtones and alarms. The changes are currently only available for compatible devices of the Android 17 beta 3 update. When Android 17 goes live, it may roll out to all users.
The first hearing support upgrade is about notification sounds. There’s a new toggle that lets hearing aid users disable a toggle for notification sounds. Turning off the toggle makes the notification sound not come through the hearing aid. Users who want the sounds to come in can turn on the toggle. Those with sensitive hearing will find this optional toggle helpful.
The second toggle makes it so that ringtones and alarms don’t play at high volumes, excellent for users with more sensitive hearing. Other than hearing aid enhancements, Android 17 Beta 3 also comes with priority charging mode and a camera fix.
